For a generation so dependent on technology, we sure are an unappreciative bunch. At least that’s what the little screw in Screw Effect might think. Who ever imagined the plight of a little screw trying to escape from a machine that’s about to destruct? Well, you’re about to experience it firsthand.
Screw Effect is an extremely short and well designed game that puts you in the shoes (err?) of a cute little screw trying to escape from his puzzling prison machine. Now here’s the catch; you only have 60 seconds to get out before the whole thing blows. The beautiful artwork in the game makes it darn confusing at first, but by the second or third attempt you’ll begin to get the hang of it. And trust us; there will be a second and third attempt!
If you find it too frustrating, the developer has been kind enough to put in a no timer version, where you can get through the level without the clock ticking. The game was originally designed for a contest called ’60 seconds to fame’, hence the disappointing shortness. The creator of Screw Effect was an engineering student and that explains the concept and artwork of the game. The music of the game also keeps good pace and has a very electronic feel, contributing well to the concept.
All in all, the game is practically flawless. It can be anything from challenging to entertaining to downright frustrating, but makes for a beautiful, albeit short-lived gaming experience. So quit screwing around and get right to it. And try not to screw up too much!Screw Effect,
